About

Founded in 1880, J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home is among the oldest funeral homes in the area. With 140 years of service in Grapevine and surrounding North Texas communities, our reputation for quality, compassionate care is well established.

A beautiful Grapevine funeral home

Foust & Son Funeral Home is located on Main Street, in the heart of historic downtown Grapevine. We are just 12 minutes from DFW International Airport, easily accessible from major highways and in proximity to several cemeteries.

The facility is a large, white brick, Colonial-style mansion on a treed lot with an expansive green lawn, a charming gazebo and an encased horse-drawn carriage (part of our storied past). Inside, elegant Victorian-style décor creates a homey atmosphere.

But Foust & Son Funeral Home is not old-fashioned by any stretch. We offer spacious receiving rooms for families and friends to gather. Our beautiful chapel has flexible seating for up to 300 guests and modern audio-visual capabilities.

Creative funeral services

Basic reception venue at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Directors Funeral service options have evolved in our many decades in business, but the team at Foust & Son has always believed that working with North Texas families is a privilege. We understand that the loss of a loved one is a very personal experience. We pledge to provide compassion, understanding and professionalism that you can rely on.

That means that whether you are seeking a direct cremation, a full traditional funeral with a graveside service and cemetery burial, or a modern Celebration of Life® with live music, catering and a send-off that reflects the personality and passions of yourself or your loved one, we go the extra mile to make it happen—and we do it with an attention to detail.

Want a butterfly release? You got it. The best BBQ in Dallas-Fort Worth? You can have that, too. Monogrammed seed packets as mementos? Yes. The ways to celebrate your or your loved one's life are endless, and we will take the time to help you plan something truly wonderful.

History

Foust & Son Funeral Home, 523 South Main Street in Grapevine, Texas, is in the old Yates home. Originally built around 1870, the home was given to Junius Edward Merritt Yates and his bride Kate Jenkins by Jenkins' parents.

By the 1880s, J.E. Foust was building a general merchandise store near Texas and Main Street. In addition to his other wares, he began selling a confection known as lemon ice, a forerunner to the present-day snow cone. In 1889, Foust expanded his business to include farm equipment, hardware and caskets. Quite early in his casket making business, the young Foust expanded his business to meet the needs of the community by hiring wagons and drivers for funeral services.

In the mid-1940s, J.E. Foust II bought the Yates home and moved his family into the elegant plantation style home, all the while his funeral business continued to expand. During this time, most funerals were held at the family’s home or at a church. As time progressed, the custom of holding a funeral service in someone else’s home became more socially acceptable, and the Foust family began adjusting the house to accommodate these needs.

In 2014, Foust & Son merged with Dignity Memorial to better serve the Grapevine community. Today, we offer families a variety of funeral services including bereavement travel and full-service receptions. We are happy to be known for by our core values: Respect, Integrity, Service Excellence and Enduring Relationships.
